OKC Navy Days was founded in 2005 by Oklahoma City Community Leader Mike McAuliffe with the support of Admiral Greg Slavonic. The mission of the OKC Navy Days is to recognize the presence, contributions and investments of the United States Navy in the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Area. OKC Navy Days includes special events and activities for local Sailors and their families including sporting events, golf tournaments and music festivals.
McAuliffe produces the annual OKC Navy Days in honor of his Uncle, Thomas Roger Rush, Jr., whose Navy plane went down in the South Pacific in WWII. Thomas and his crew were listed as missing in action on December 23, 1943. AMO3 Thomas Roger Rush, Jr. was awarded the Purple Heart for his service to his country.
